Background of Invention:

​

Since 2009, thousands of road tests have been conducted using personal vehicles equipped with the invention's proof-of-concept components.

 

For analysis purposes, detailed records kept  of each road test  Records included the route driven, (hilly or flat),  traffic density, and weather conditions ( dry or wet),  (ambient wind speed and direction), all of which influence fuel consumption.  Most importantly gasoline receipts were retained showing how much fuel was used on the test. 

​

Thousands of road tests proved that by attaching things that possessed special characteristics, to the back of blunt ended vehicles, travelling through air at  speeds averaging 100 kilometers per hour ( 60 miles per hour),substantially improved fuel efficiencies.

​

Since 2009, this simple discovery has saved the inventor thousands of dollars in reduced fuel costs.

 

Most importantly, his test vehicles have released far fewer tonnes of Carbon Dioxide compared to other  vehicles that are not equipped with the invention’s components.

One would think that by adding structures onto the exterior surfaces of vehicles moving through air, that the increased size and weight of the objects added to the vehicle would cause the vehicle to experience greater air resistance i.e., Drag, and therefore, burn more fuel. 

​

Curiously, the opposite proved to be true.

​​​

Since 2009, the inventor has invested thousands of man-hours, making and road-testing, proof-of-concept prototypes along with thousands of dollars in legal fees to Patent his discoveries.

​

After reviewing all the other patented devices in the world that claimed they reduced air resistance, i.e. Drag, the Canadian government issued its Patent  for the Air Pressure Reducing System in 2020 because it was unique in its conceptual principles that it incorporated to reduce air resistance encountered when bodies move through air.   

​

It is important to note that the Patent is not restricted to using things such as bicycle rims, PVC plastic hollow pipes, and strings that are depicted in this website and in the invention’s Patent documents.

 

The bicycle rims etc. were examples of things that performed the conceptual function of reducing air resistance for bodies moving through air.

​

The uniqueness of the invention's concepts that were Patented is as follows. 

​

The inventor innovatively realized that the dominant cause of air resistance i.e., Drag, are areas containing low air pressures that form short distances beyond the trailing surfaces of blunt ended vehicles travelling though air.

 

The areas containing low air pressures (negative air  pressures, partial vacuums) do not form directly on top of the vehicle’s body where air foils, fins and panels are often attached.​​​​​

 

The causes of Drag are generated short distances BEYOND the vehicle's physical body when moving through air.

​

To effectively reduce vehicles’ air resistance, the invention’s components are innovatively suspended from an intermediary structure such as a bicycle rack or a bracket, so that the components are located short distances away from the vehicle’s exterior surfaces where the conditions for generating Drag are created.

​

By suspending the invention’s components from an intermediary structure,  volumes of high velocity air molecules possessing low air pressures contact the invention's components. Upon contact with the invention's components. the high velocity, low air pressure air molecules transfer portions of their energies to the components and slow down.

​

By slowing down volumes of high velocity air molecules, smaller and weaker areas containing air pressures more equalized to surrounding air pressure are formed.

​

The air pressures within these weaker areas are quickly neutralized (equalized) by surrounding air molecules so that on the average, the forces of air resistance i.e., Drag are reduced.

​

Weaker forces that resist the forward motion of vehicles, result in less fuel being consumed, and fewer volumes of Carbon Dioxide being released.

​

Incidentally, electric vehicle also have blunt ends, and experience air resistance, i.e. Drag.  By equipping the invention’s components to electric vehicles they will potentially drive two times farther between needing to charge their batteries. 

​

Fewer charges means that expensive batteries will last longer and reduce ownership costs.

​
